The" DHARI "( d-ar-ee)

This Design of Aicey's is a feature throughout the Gallery and on the Products we sell. It is The most recognisable symbol that shows who we are.

The designs vary by Islands , but this Design is of (Mer)Murray Island origin.
The Dhari feathers -

1. Fregit bird that migrates to Murray Is, each year ( long middle )

2.  Crane or Heron feathers that are cut to depict fish swimming ( outer edge)

 3. Torres Strait Pigeon in the centre of headress with the black tips.

The Dhari was worn for Battle by the Murray Islander Men ,

but now it is worn for Traditional  Dances.

If we don't let others know who we are or

where we come from we ,
LOSE our IDENTITY
